Varshaphala Part 15: Results of the 12 Bhavas — Houses 1 Through 4

Varshaphala — The Hindu Progressed Horoscope (Complete Guide)

With Year Lord results covered in Parts 1314, we now examine each of the 12 houses in detail. This is the most comprehensive chapter in the original text, and we've divided it across three articles for readability.

Part 15 of 21 • Results Encyclopedia • Covers: Chapter 11 — Results of Bhavas (Articles 95–106)

Section: Varshaphala Part 15 Bhava Results Houses 1 4

Each house in the Varshaphala chart carries specific significations for the year. The results depend on the house lord's strength, any planets occupying the house, relevant Sahams, and how these factors connect back to the birth chart.

How to read each house section:

  1. Significations — what the house governs during the year
  2. Special Combinations — specific Ithasala/Easarpha yogas and lordship patterns that activate particular results
  3. Planets in the House — what each of the nine planets produces when occupying this house
1

First Bhava — Self, Body, Personality

The native's health, vitality, general fortune, and physical well-being during the year

Key Special Combinations

When the Lagna lord is strong and forms Ithasala with benefic planets, the year brings good health, personal success, and an improved general outlook. The native commands respect and gains recognition.

If the Year Lord occupies the 1st house and is well-aspected, the native enjoys prominence and authority. When Muntha also falls in the 1st, the year is especially favorable — bringing fresh income sources and career elevation.

Conversely, if the Lagna lord is weak, afflicted, or in Easarpha with malefics, the native faces health problems, loss of reputation, and general misfortune. Malefics in the 1st without benefic aspect bring sickness and mental distress.

Planets in the First House

Sun: Government favor, good health, authority, but possible trouble from authority in the latter part of the year.

Moon: Mental peace, gain of valuables, favorable domestic conditions, popularity with the public.

Mars: Courage and energy, but risk of injuries, fevers, and conflicts. Success through bold action.

Mercury: Intellectual sharpness, good communication skills, success in academic or business pursuits.

Jupiter: Excellent health, wisdom, spiritual inclination, respect from elders, and general prosperity.

Venus: Physical attractiveness, comforts, romantic opportunities, and artistic success.

Saturn: Health concerns, lethargy, delays in personal projects, but gains through persistent effort.

Rahu: Confusion, unconventional behavior, foreign connections, and unusual experiences.

Ketu: Spiritual inclination, detachment, possible health scares, and unexpected changes.

Second Bhava — Wealth, Speech, Family

Financial position, income sources, family harmony, speech quality, and food

Key Special Combinations

When the lords of the 1st and 2nd form Ithasala, money flows in without great effort. If they form Easarpha instead, expect financial losses, heavy expenditure, and possibly government fines or penalties.

When Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter conjoin the Artha Saham (finance sensitive point) in the 2nd house, the result is dramatic — high position, substantial income, and sudden elevation in status.

Income sources are indicated by the house occupied or aspected by Jupiter when Jupiter is lord of the 2nd in the natal chart. If Jupiter aspects the Lagna — income from self-effort. If the 4th — from land and property. The 7th — through partnership or spouse. The 10th — through one's profession or government.

Speech quality: The planet in the 2nd indicates the nature of one's communication during the year. Malefics produce harsh or provocative speech. Mercury brings humor and wit. Venus makes conversation sensual. Jupiter alone produces a charming conversationalist who draws on ethics, philosophy, and considerate language.

Planets in the Second House

Sun: Government-related income, authority in financial matters, but possible eye trouble.

Moon: Good earnings, family harmony, pleasant speech, and favorable food experiences.

Mars: Aggressive pursuit of income, possible legal disputes over money, and sharp speech.

Mercury: Strong Mercury in the 2nd brings gains through writing, publication, and similar intellectual means.

Jupiter: If aspected by benefics, distinct improvement in financial status. Especially favorable when Muntha Rasi receives Jupiter's aspect.

Venus: Income through art, women, or luxury trades. Pleasant family atmosphere.

Saturn: Some gains but heavy unforeseen expenditures. Money comes and goes.

Rahu: Unconventional income sources, possible deception in financial matters.

Ketu: Unexpected financial changes, detachment from material concerns.

Third Bhava — Siblings, Courage, Communication

Brothers and sisters, valor, short journeys, arms, ears, and personal initiative

Key Special Combinations

If Jupiter has Ithasala with the 3rd lord or occupies the 3rd house, siblings will be happy and relations harmonious. Conversely, if the 3rd lord forms Easarpha with malefics, misunderstandings with brothers and sisters arise during the year.

If the 3rd lord is also a candidate for Year Lordship, occupies the 3rd, and forms Ithasala with the Lagna lord, cordial relations among siblings will prevail. If Mars as weak 3rd lord occupies the house, expect constant injuries and blood-related ailments.

Planets in the Third House

Sun: Some difficulties for siblings mid-year, but income from political or government sources, victory over rivals, and good health for the native.

Moon: Benefits to siblings, secret pleasures, growing income and prestige.

Mars: Difficulties for relatives, but acquisition of vehicles, defeat of enemies, and income growth.

Mercury: Reduction of worries, enhanced reputation, and general contentment.

Jupiter: Fame spreads, merit recognized by authorities, and increase of wealth.

Venus: Happiness for brothers and sisters, good health, income, and charitable disposition.

Saturn: Defeat of enemies and financial gains, but tension with relatives and neighbors.

Rahu: Gains of vehicles and governmental friendships, but some distress to siblings.

Ketu: Courageous conduct, wealth and comfort, charitable activities, and a generally positive year.

Fourth Bhava — Home, Mother, Property

Real estate, vehicles, education, mother's health, domestic happiness, change of residence

Key Special Combinations

An afflicted Sun in the 4th indicates the father will face difficulties that year. An afflicted Moon in the 4th points to the mother suffering from ill-health and mental worry. If Saturn joins the Sun in this house, the father's reputation may be at stake.

If the strong 4th lord forms Ithasala with the Lagna lord, parents will be happy and the native benefits from property and domestic matters. If the Pitru and Matru Sahams are afflicted and Muntha falls in the 4th, the mother or father may face a serious health crisis during the year.

If Mars or Saturn occupies the sign that serves as the 4th house in the natal chart, or the sign where the 4th lord is placed in the annual chart, parents will face difficulties. Conversely, if the Matru or Pitru Saham forms Ithasala with the Lagna lord, parents derive joy and happiness from the native.

Planets in the Fourth House

Sun: Trouble with livestock, agricultural losses, governmental friction, stomach complaints for the mother, and chest-related health issues.

Moon: Success in disputes with authorities, good agricultural income, general happiness, earnings through trade, defeat of enemies, and the possibility of acquiring a new vehicle.

Mars: Fire hazards affecting property, general sorrow, problems with livestock and agriculture, though business remains stable.

Mercury: General contentment, good income, new social connections that prove beneficial, acquisition of property and livestock, and the pleasure of a new vehicle.

Jupiter: Profitable sale and purchase of vehicles, all-round happiness, governmental favor, and successful launch of new ventures.

Venus: Results similar to Jupiter's — entry into politics or legislature possible, and an aristocratic standard of living.

Saturn: Professional and employment difficulties, fear, eye and stomach troubles, sorrow through relatives, undeserved damage to reputation, livestock losses, crop destruction, and fire hazards.

Rahu: Loss or destruction of vehicles, trouble from authorities, respiratory complaints, rheumatic pains, and unproductive foreign travel.

Ketu: Difficulties for the mother, but opportunities to display courage and integrity, truthful conduct, good earnings, and abundance.
