Varshaphala Part 16: Results of the 12 Bhavas — Houses 5 Through 8

Varshaphala — The Hindu Progressed Horoscope (Complete Guide)

Continuing from Part 15 (Houses 1–4), we now cover four of the most significant houses: children, health, marriage, and mortality.

Part 16 of 21 • Results Encyclopedia • Covers: Chapter 11 — Results of Bhavas (Articles 107–118)

5

Fifth Bhava — Children, Intelligence, Creativity

Progeny, intellectual pursuits, new ventures, education, discrimination, and joy

Key Special Combinations

Birth of a child is indicated when the 5th house and the Putra Saham are both strongly placed. If the Year Lord occupies the 5th house, children will be happy throughout the year. The indication is strengthened when the Punya Saham falls in the 5th with benefic aspects, or when the lords of the Lagna and 5th conjoin in the 5th.

When the natal 5th house sign becomes the ascendant in the yearly chart, the year is exceedingly favorable for children. If that sign is held by Mercury or Venus in the annual chart, the birth of a child can also be anticipated.

Warning: If retrograde Mars afflicts the childbirth combination, the child born may not survive. If the afflicted 5th house in the annual chart falls in the sign occupied by Saturn in the natal chart, children will suffer misfortunes that year.

Planets in the Fifth House

Sun: Unpopularity, difficulties in disputes, weakened judgment, and hardship for children — especially during the Sun's Dasa period.

Moon: Success through intelligence, support from friends; birth of a child or troubles to children depending on whether Moon is beneficially or adversely disposed.

Mars: Health issues and unhappiness for children, success over rivals, but tensions from unexpected sources and impaired discrimination.

Mercury: Children thrive, wealth increases, success in all efforts, loyal support staff, and connections with influential people.

Jupiter: Children prosper, opportunities to demonstrate talent, defeat of rivals, and acquisition of precious items.

Venus: Fears and worries dissolve, enemies face trouble, a sudden windfall of happiness mid-year, and financial growth.

Saturn: Serious illness or loss of a child, various afflictions, mental disturbance, and possible government action.

Rahu: Impaired judgment, enemies cause suffering, digestive system disorders, and disruptions in all matters.

Ketu: Loss of a child, governmental difficulties, damage to reputation, and baseless allegations from enemies.

Sixth Bhava — Disease, Enemies, Debts

Illness, hostility, legal disputes, obstacles, maternal uncle, and struggle for livelihood

Key Special Combinations — Disease Indicators

Raman provides remarkably specific disease indicators based on which planet, afflicted and serving as Year Lord, occupies the 6th house:

Afflicted Year Lord in 6thDisease Indicated
Saturn (retrograde/afflicted)Chest trouble from tridosha inflammation, spleen enlargement, eye trouble, typhoid
Jupiter (without Kahala Yoga with Moon)Rheumatism and diseases from Vayu (air) inflammation
Mars (afflicted)Severe jaundice and blood impurity
MercuryNervous breakdown
Other planetsDiseases befitting their natural significations (Karakatwa)

Ithasala between the 6th lord and the Lagna lord (or Year Lord) causes the native to suffer from ailments corresponding to the tridosha indicated by the planet involved. However, if the planet in the 6th has Ithasala with the Moon, the intensity of the illness is considerably neutralized.

Planets in the Sixth House

Sun: Success over enemies, income from authoritative sources, but digestive troubles and disputes.

Moon: Victory in litigation, defeat of enemies, but phlegmatic complaints and spleen issues.

Mars: Bloody complaints and burns; benefic aspects lessen the severity.

Mercury: Nervous ailments, mental worry, but also cleverness in overcoming obstacles.

Jupiter: Diseases from Vayu inflammation; if with Moon and Mars in Lagna, possible surgical procedure.

Venus: Complaints related to reproductive or urinary systems.

Saturn: Chronic illness, debts, and persistent enemies.

Rahu: Unusual diseases difficult to diagnose, fear from enemies.

Ketu: Strange fevers, risk of poisoning, sudden health scares.

Seventh Bhava — Marriage, Partnership, Travel

Spouse, business partnerships, foreign travel, public dealings, and marital harmony

Key Special Combinations

Marriage indicators: When the 7th lord and the Vivaha Saham (marriage sensitive point) are well-placed, and the 7th lord forms Ithasala with the Lagna lord or the Year Lord, marriage or a significant partnership event is likely during the year. The marriage takes place during the Dasa of the planet most strongly connected to the Vivaha Saham.

Marital discord: If the 7th lord is in Easarpha with the Lagna lord or Year Lord, or if malefics occupy the 7th without benefic aspect, the year brings quarrels with the spouse, separation, or disappointment in partnerships.

Planets in the Seventh House

Sun: Governmental connections through marriage or partnerships, possible friction with spouse over authority issues.

Moon: Harmonious married life, gains through partnerships, public popularity, and emotional fulfillment in relationships.

Mars: Passionate but turbulent relationships, possible surgery for the spouse, success through bold partnerships.

Mercury: Intellectual partnerships, success in business dealing with the public, written agreements that prove favorable.

Jupiter: An excellent year for marriage, business expansion, and harmonious relations with partners and the public.

Venus: Romantic fulfillment, artistic collaborations, luxury through partnership, and a beautiful spouse or partner.

Saturn: Delays in marriage, older or serious partners, business partnerships requiring patience and restructuring.

Rahu: Unconventional relationships, foreign partners, unexpected marital developments.

Ketu: Spiritual partnerships, detachment from spouse, sudden separation or dissolution of business ties.

Eighth Bhava — Longevity, Inheritance, Sudden Events

Death, legacy, hidden matters, chronic illness, sudden gains or losses, and transformation

Key Special Combinations

Death or serious illness indicators: When the Lagna lord forms Ithasala with the 8th lord (especially if the Moon is also involved), or when the Mrityu Saham (death sensitive point) is afflicted and conjoined with the Lagna lord, serious health crises or even death can be indicated. The Apamrityu Saham (accidental death) should also be checked.

Inheritance and legacy: Favorable configurations involving the 8th house can indicate receiving a legacy, inheritance, or insurance proceeds. The nature of the inheritance depends on the planets involved — Jupiter indicates wealth from religious or educational institutions, Saturn from elderly relatives or through wills.

Critical Reminder: Death should NEVER be predicted from the annual chart alone. If the natal chart shows a strong constitution and long life, even strong 8th house afflictions in the annual chart should be interpreted as serious illness with recovery, not as death. Always defer to the birth chart's fundamental promise of longevity. See Part 12.

Planets in the Eighth House

Sun: Health concerns, governmental complications, possible legacy or inheritance issues, and friction with authority.

Moon: Emotional upheaval, hidden matters coming to light, possible inheritance through female relatives.

Mars: Risk of accidents, surgery, sudden events; but also potential gains through insurance or contested inheritance.

Mercury: Legal complications regarding inheritance, mental anxiety about hidden matters, but cleverness in navigating crises.

Jupiter: Protection from serious harm, possible inheritance from educational or religious institutions, spiritual transformation.

Venus: Complications through romantic entanglements, possible gains through spouse's resources, but health issues related to excesses.

Saturn: Chronic health concerns, delays in receiving inheritance, confrontation with mortality, but eventual endurance through hardship.

Rahu: Sudden and unexpected crises, hidden enemies, unusual circumstances surrounding inheritance or death-related matters.

Ketu: Spiritual crisis or awakening, release from long-standing fears, possible loss followed by spiritual liberation.
