Varshaphala Part 20: Real-World Worked Examples

Varshaphala — The Hindu Progressed Horoscope (Complete Guide)

Theory is complete. Now we watch B.V. Raman apply the framework to seven real charts — demonstrating how every technique from this series comes together in actual practice.

Part 20 of 21 • Synthesis & Application • Covers: Chapter 14 — Some Examples (Nos. 1–7)

Section: Varshaphala Part 20 Worked Examples

B.V. Raman emphasizes: before analyzing any yearly chart, the current directional influences in the birth chart must be carefully considered. The yearly chart enables us to time events with greater accuracy, but the event must first be traceable to the birth chart.

Note on these examples: Each case demonstrates specific Tajaka principles in action. Study how Raman identifies the key factors, which he prioritizes, and how he arrives at his conclusions. The method is always the same nine-step framework from Part 19 — but each chart highlights different aspects of it.

The Standard Horoscope — 24th Year

Born 8 August 1912, Bangalore | Year: 9 Aug 1935 – 9 Aug 1936

Main Event: Birth of a Son Professional Launch

Birth chart context: Rahu Dasa, Mars Bhukti operating until 18 August 1936. Rahu gives results of Jupiter and Mercury (sign and constellation lords). Houses involved: 2nd (family), 5th (children), 7th (wife), 10th (occupation).

Key Annual Chart Factors

Year Lord = Moon (debilitated in Scorpio in 11th, but beneficially disposed by Dwadasavargeeyabala, PV/4 = 6.97 "ordinary"). Favorable aspect to Mercury and Sun; adverse to Saturn and Venus.

Muntha in 1st house (Capricorn). Muntha lord Saturn = also Lagna lord and birth ascendant lord. Strong at PV/4 = 11.75. Triple lordship + 1st-house Muntha = fresh income, elevation in career.

Putra Saham at 277°42' (Capricorn). Conjunct Muntha and ascendant. Moon (Year Lord) aspects the 5th. Punya Saham falls in the 5th. Venus (5th lord) in mutual aspect with Saturn (ascendant lord). Birth of an issue clearly indicated.

Timing via Putra Saham: Arc of direction to Mars (11th lord from Saham) = 82°10' = 82 days 4 hours from 9 August 1935 = 1 November 1935. Actual birth: early morning of 2 November 1935. Accuracy: within 1 day.

Jupiter's Dasa brought the launch of the publishing concern and first issue of the journal. Jupiter is lord of the 3rd (communication) and 12th in the 10th (profession), with Ithasala with the ascendant lord.

Lessons: This chart demonstrates perfect Saham timing (Putra Saham within 1 day), the power of Muntha in the 1st house, and how multiple factors (Year Lord, Muntha, Saham, Dasa) converge to confirm a prediction.

2

Access to Political Power

Born 9 January 1913 | 57th Year: 10 Jan 1969

Main Event: Became President of the United States

Key Factors — An Exceptionally Powerful Chart

(a) Powerful Year Lord Sun (also 9th lord) is in the Lagna Rasi.

(b) Muntha lord Mars has Ithasala with 10th lord Mercury.

(c) Ascendant lord Jupiter is in the 10th house (profession).

(d) Year Lord Sun heading for conjunction with 10th lord.

(e) The birth Sun's sign becomes the annual ascendant.

(f) Rajya Saham conjoins the Lagna lord; trine to the Saham lord (who is also the 10th lord).

Timing: The native became President during Lagna Dasa. The Rajya Saham (Virgo 10°52') progressed to the 11th lord (Moon at 15° Virgo) in just 5 degrees = 5 days from the year start. The inauguration was on 20 January — a time-lag of about 5 days from the calculated date.

Lessons: Six independent Tajaka factors all pointing to political power. When this many indicators converge, the prediction becomes overwhelming. The Rajya Saham timing was accurate to within 5 days.

3

Death Indication

Born 14 November 1889 | 75th Year: 16 Nov 1963

Main Event: Death

Key Factors

(a) Lagna lord Moon in Ithasala with 8th lord Saturn — the Lagna lord directly connecting to the lord of death.

(b) Muntha lord Mercury in the same position — also in Ithasala with the 8th lord.

(c) Mars (Year Lord) aspects the 8th house.

(d) Lagna lord in association with the Mrityu Saham (death sensitive point).

(e) Lord of the 8th in the 7th (a maraka house).

Lessons: Five converging death indicators. The Lagna lord's Ithasala with the 8th lord, combined with the Mrityu Saham conjunction, creates an unmistakable pattern. Note that the birth chart would need to confirm that longevity had been exhausted for this prediction to be valid.

4

Marriage

Born 16 August 1937 | 24th Year: 16 Aug 1960

Main Event: Marriage

(a) Radix Lagna lord Mercury is in the annual Lagna.

(b) 7th lord Saturn has Ithasala with Vivaha Saham.

(c) Lords of Lagna and Vivaha Saham conjunct in the 11th (house of gains/fulfillment).

(d) Lord of the 11th in the 2nd (family formation).

Marriage took place during Lagna Dasa.

5

Completion of Education

Born 21 May 1940 | 21st Year: 21 May 1960

(a) Lagna lord Moon in the 9th with Yogakaraka Mars.

(b) 4th lord (education) aspecting the 4th and in Ithasala with Jupiter.

(c) Vidya Saham (learning) in the 4th house, aspected by its lord.

Success declared during Sun's Dasa (Sun = lord of 11th from Vidya Saham). Vidya Saham lord Venus conjoined the 11th lord in 9 degrees = 9 days.

6

Foreign Trip for Higher Studies

Born 3 August 1942 | 25th Year: 3 Aug 1966

Main Event: Left for U.S.A. for Higher Studies

(a) 9th lord Venus conjunct Jupiter (4th lord = education, 7th lord = long journey).

(b) Vidya Saham lord conjunct 7th and 9th lords.

Saham timing: arc of direction = 28° (28 days) = calculated date 31 August 1966. Actual departure: 9 September 1966. On that day, Saturn was in exact sextile to the Saham.

7

Success in Degree Examination

Born 29 September 1946 | 22nd Year: 29 Sep 1967

Main Event: Passed Final Engineering Degree

(a) 4th lord Sun in the 5th, with Ithasala with Mars (engineering).

(b) 4th house occupied by the ascendant lord.

(c) 4th lord in Radix placed in the 4th conjunct Lagna lord in annual chart.

(d) Planets in the 4th in Ithasala with Mercury (11th lord from 4th = success indicator).

(e) Vidya Saham in trine to ascendant lord and Jupiter.

Results announced during Sun's Dasa (Sun = 4th lord).

Key Patterns Across All Seven Examples

  1. Year Lord strength always matters — in every example, the Year Lord's condition accurately predicted the year's general quality.
  2. Sahams provide remarkable timing accuracy — the Putra Saham predicted birth to the exact day; the Rajya Saham was within 5 days of a presidential inauguration.
  3. Kendra positions dominate outcomes — planets in angular houses (1, 4, 7, 10) consistently produced the most significant events of the year.
  4. Ithasala between key lords is the primary event indicator — in every case, an Ithasala yoga between the relevant house lord and the Lagna lord or Year Lord signaled the event.
  5. Multiple converging factors increase certainty — the presidential chart had 6 independent indicators; the death chart had 5. When 3+ factors converge, the prediction becomes highly reliable.
  6. The birth chart is always the final filter — Raman consistently checks the natal Dasa and birth chart promises before making annual predictions.
