Hindu Predictive Astrology Part 28: Female Horoscopy

Hindu Predictive Astrology — Complete Modern Guide

All combinations from earlier chapters apply equally to both sexes. This chapter covers traits unique to the female horoscope: puberty, conception, delivery, marriage prospects specific to women, widowhood combinations, and special Rajayogas. Raman also discusses how traditional views are evolving.

Part 28 of 31 • Specialised Branches • Covers: Book Chapter XXX — Female Horoscopy

Historical note: Some ancient writers held that Rajayogas in a woman's chart should be applied to her husband. Raman notes that "the order has been rapidly changing" and "women have been competing with men in all walks of life." These combinations should be read in historical context while applying them to modern realities.

Key Takeaways

  1. The 8th house has special significance for women — it governs marital happiness (in addition to the 7th)
For men, the 8th primarily governs longevity; for women, it additionally controls marital fortune.
  2. Jupiter in 1st + Moon in 7th + Venus in 10th is the most powerful Rajayoga for women
Even a girl born in humble circumstances can marry a very rich man with this combination.
  3. Mars in the 7th without benefic aspects is the most dangerous widowhood indicator
This is the foundation of the "Manglik" or "Kuja Dosha" concept widely applied in matchmaking.
  4. Six widowhood combinations all involve the 7th lord, 8th house, Saturn, Mars, Rahu, and malefic hemming
Multiple afflictions to 7th-8th axis = increased risk. A single factor is rarely conclusive.
  5. First menses is treated as a "second birth" with its own chart and predictive significance
    Monday/Thursday menses = best. Tuesday/Saturday = worst. 17 auspicious nakshatras vs 4 condemned ones.

In Part 29, we cover four specialised branches in a single article: Mundane Astrology (nations and world events), Muhurtha (election of auspicious times), Annual Horoscopy (Varshaphal), and Transits (Gochara) — the remaining applied branches before the final practical examples.
