If you're building an astrology app, integrating Vedic features into existing software, or wiring up an AI assistant with real ephemeris data, you need an API. The Vedic astrology API market has changed a lot in the past 12 months: several providers have launched MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, pricing has been reshuffled, and new entrants like Vedika and RoxyAPI have raised the feature bar.
This article is written by the team behind VedAstro, but our goal here is honest. We pulled live pricing pages from every provider in May 2026 and verified features against their public docs and GitHub repositories. Where competitors do something better than we do, we say so. Where we genuinely lead, we explain why. Our aim is to help you pick the API that actually fits your use case — even if that's not us.
Last verified: May 2026. Pricing changes frequently — always confirm on the provider's site before purchase. INR/USD conversions use ~₹84 = $1.
Quick Comparison
| Provider | Free Tier | Entry Paid Plan | Top Plan | MCP | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VedAstro | 5 req/min, no signup | $1/mo unlimited* | Enterprise on request | ✓ Hosted | Cheapest Vedic + open source |
| VedicAstroAPI | 14-day trial | ₹1,499/mo (~$17.80) — 30K calls | ₹11,499/mo — 1.5M calls | ✓ Self-hosted | 21 languages + Vedic/Western/Tarot combos |
| Prokerala | 5K credits/mo, 5 req/min | ₹999/mo (~$11.90) — 100K credits | ₹4,999/mo — 1M credits | ✕ None | Most established (since 2006), PDF reports |
| AstrologyAPI.com | 50 credits on signup | Pay-as-you-go credits (~₹1,000 / 10K credits) | Volume discounts up to 60% off | ✓ Hosted | Largest endpoint catalog (300+), PDF variety |
| Vedika | Sandbox (mock data) | $12/mo — 100 calls/day | $240/mo — unlimited | ✓ Hosted | AI natural-language queries, KP system |
| RoxyAPI | Public playground | $39/mo — 25K req | $699/mo — 3M req | ✓ 10 hosted servers | Multi-domain (10 services), best MCP coverage |
| Kundli.Click | 1K req/mo | ~₹1,499/mo | ~₹2,999/mo | ✕ None | Indian market, basic kundli/panchang |
* VedAstro's "unlimited" plan has soft enterprise caps; very high-volume users may need to contact the team. Credit-based plans (Prokerala, AstrologyAPI.com) consume different credit amounts per endpoint — PDFs and full kundli charts cost far more credits than panchang or daily horoscope calls.
Detailed Provider Reviews
1. VedAstro
Website: vedastro.org
Founded: 2014 (non-profit project)
Free Tier: 5 requests/minute, no signup, no credit card
Paid: $1/month for unlimited calls (soft caps apply)
What they offer:
- 200+ horoscope prediction endpoints
- Swiss Ephemeris engine; Raman ayanamsa default; 47 ayanamsa systems supported (broadest in market)
- Match compatibility (16 Kutas), Ashtakavarga, Dasha (multi-level), Yogas, Panchang, Muhurtha, Chaldean numerology
- Hosted MCP server at mcp.vedastro.org — works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, VS Code
- Python SDK (PyPI), PHP wrapper, Swift package
- Open source on GitHub (MIT license, 530+ stars), self-hostable, Docker image available
- Visual REST API Builder for non-developers — test endpoints and generate code in your browser
Honest assessment:
VedAstro is the cheapest paid Vedic API by a wide margin and the only fully open-source one in this list. The hosted MCP server is the easiest to set up of any provider here — one URL, no install. Calculations are transparent and verifiable because the source code is public.
Where it falls short: no PDF report generation, no Tarot, no built-in AI chat layer (MCP enables AI integration but there's no native NLP endpoint), English-only API responses, no official JavaScript/TypeScript SDK, and no Western astrology depth beyond ayanamsa selection. It's non-profit project focused 100% on benefiting the Vedic Astrology community than on building a polished commercial product.
2. VedicAstroAPI
Website: vedicastroapi.com
Founded: 2018, Coimbatore, India
Free Tier: 14-day trial, no credit card required
Pricing (live, May 2026):
- Vedic Limited: ₹1,499/mo (~$17.80) — 30,000 calls
- Vedic Complete: ₹2,499 – ₹11,499/mo — 75K to 1.5M calls
- Bestseller (Vedic + Tarot + Western): ₹3,999/mo (~$47.60) — 110,000 calls
- Yearly billing: 2 months free
- Top-up: 10K calls for ₹350 (~$4.17)
- PDF reports: ₹2 to ₹45 per report depending on size
What they offer:
- 100+ Vedic endpoints, plus Western astrology and Tarot in combo plans
- 21 supported languages — the widest multilingual coverage in this list (English, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Spanish, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Sinhala, Nepali, French, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, German, Turkish, Russian, Italian, Dutch, Polish)
- AI Chat API (experimental beta, bring-your-own-LLM, billed per credit)
- Self-hosted MCP server — free on GitHub, runs locally with Cursor / VS Code
- WordPress plugin (third-party maintained)
- Postman API documentation, location search included
Honest assessment:
If you need a single provider for Vedic + Western + Tarot in 21 languages, VedicAstroAPI is genuinely competitive. The combo plans at ~$48/month for 110K calls are reasonable, and PDF report add-ons are inexpensive per unit. Their MCP support is real but self-hosted, which requires developer setup.
Where it falls short: INR-default billing (USD on request), AI Chat is still beta, no hosted MCP, phone support is gated to higher tiers, and the codebase is closed-source.
3. Prokerala API
Website: api.prokerala.com
Company: Ennexa Technologies, Kerala, India
Established: 2006 (the oldest provider in this comparison)
Free Tier: 5,000 credits/month, 5 req/min
Pricing (currently 50% off promo):
- Ruby (popular): ₹999/mo (~$11.90) — 100K credits, 60 req/min
- Emerald: ₹2,499/mo (~$29.70) — 350K credits, 120 req/min
- Sapphire: ₹4,999/mo (~$59.50) — 1M credits, 300 req/min
- Enterprise: custom pricing
- Top-up: 100K credits for ₹2,500 (3-month validity)
What they offer:
- Comprehensive Vedic catalog: kundli, Mangal Dosha, Ashta/Dasha Kuta marriage compatibility, Ashtakavarga, Yogas
- Panchang, Choghadiya, Auspicious Period, multiple regional calendars (Amanta, Purnimanta, Vikram Samvat)
- Western astrology: natal chart, aspects, synastry, transit chart
- Numerology: Pythagorean and Chaldean
- PDF reports: kundli, compatibility, transits (white-label customization)
- Batch compatibility: up to 500 charts per request
- Sample clients in PHP, C#, Python, Ruby; WordPress plugin
Honest assessment:
Prokerala is the most established and trusted provider on this list — nearly two decades of track record matters for production deployments. Their PDF report quality and customization options are strong, and the 50% promo brings the entry tier down to ~$12/month, which is genuinely competitive.
Where it falls short: no MCP support (a real gap for AI-assistant developers in 2026), credits-based pricing means budgeting is unpredictable (a kundli call can cost 500 credits while panchang costs 10), and there's no AI/NLP layer or Tarot.
4. AstrologyAPI.com
Website: astrologyapi.com
Trust signal: "Trusted by 3,000+ products worldwide"
Free Tier: 50 free credits on signup, no credit card
Pricing: Unified credit wallet model
- ~₹1,000 (~$11.90) per 10,000 credits, credits never expire
- Volume discounts auto-apply, up to 60% off at high volumes
- Annual billing: additional 20% discount
- Three suites available: Indian Astrology, Western Astrology, Horoscope Feeds
- PDF reports priced per report: ₹1.50 (mini, 8 pg) to ₹100 (Professional / Synastry / Solar Return)
What they offer:
- 300+ endpoints — the largest catalog of any provider
- Indian: kundli, panchang, muhurta, matchmaking (KP, Varshaphal, Lalkitab in premium)
- Western: natal, synastry, composite, transits, with senior-astrologer-reviewed interpretations
- Horoscope: daily/monthly JSON feeds for all 12 signs
- AI Chat API, Tarot, Numerology, Geo Location APIs
- Hosted MCP server — included in sandbox alongside Kundli, AI Chat, PDFs
- White-label PDF generation across both Vedic and Western systems
- DST-safe timezone handling, regional language support
Honest assessment:
AstrologyAPI.com has the broadest feature surface area of any provider here. If you need both Vedic and Western depth, plus Tarot, plus PDF report variety, plus AI chat, plus MCP, it's the most complete single vendor. Volume discounts make it scale-friendly.
Where it falls short: the multi-suite model means you may need to buy Indian + Western + Horoscope separately to get full coverage, which can stack to ~$95/month equivalent before PDFs. Pricing is INR-only on the public page, and credit-burn rate per endpoint can be hard to predict.
5. Vedika API
Website: vedika.io
Company: XALEN Technology, Pune, India
Founded: 2025 (newest entrant)
Free Tier: 130+ mock endpoints in sandbox — no signup, but mock data only
Pricing (live, May 2026):
- Starter: $12/month, $12 credit wallet, 100 calls/day, 11 languages
- Professional: $60/month, 1,000 calls/day, 30 languages, batch API
- Business: $120/month, 5,000 calls/day, fast-path AI (1–3s), Voice AI, SSO
- Enterprise: $240/month, unlimited daily, 99.9% SLA, white-label, 24/7 support
- AI query pricing: $0.01–$0.05/query depending on path; Voice AI $0.04–$0.08/query
What they offer:
- 140+ endpoints across Vedic, Western, and KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) — rare in this market
- KP significators, sub-lord analysis, Placidus cusps, 300+ yoga detection
- Built-in AI layer: natural-language questions ("Will 2026 be good for career?") cross-validated against computed chart data
- Anti-hallucination: fabricated yoga/nakshatra claims auto-detected and corrected
- 30-language output, streaming SSE for real-time AI responses
- Official Python and JavaScript SDKs
- Hosted MCP server (linked from main navigation)
- NEW (April 2026): Vastu API — 18 endpoints citing Manasara, Mayamata, Brihat Samhita
Honest assessment:
Vedika is the most opinionated AI-first provider in the market. If your product is built around natural-language queries rather than raw chart calculations, the built-in NLP layer with grounded responses is a real time-saver. Their KP system support and Vastu API are genuine differentiators.
Where it falls short: shortest track record (launched 2025), the free sandbox is mock-data only so you can't prototype with real ephemeris before paying, AI response latency is 1–4 seconds, no PDF report generation, no Tarot, and the long-term sustainability of a new company is an open question.
6. RoxyAPI
Website: roxyapi.com
Company: Roxy Labs
Founded: 2024
Free Tier: Live API Playground (no signup); no traditional free production tier
Pricing (live, May 2026):
- Starter: $39/mo ($32 yearly) — 25,000 requests
- Professional: $149/mo ($124 yearly) — 200,000 requests
- Business: $349/mo ($291 yearly) — 750,000 requests
- Enterprise: $699/mo ($582 yearly) — 3,000,000 requests, 99.95% SLA, SOC 2 docs
- All plans: every request = 1 token regardless of endpoint (predictable budgeting)
What they offer:
- 10 domains in one API: Vedic, Western, Numerology, Tarot, Biorhythm, I-Ching, Crystals, Dreams, Angel Numbers, Location
- 130+ REST endpoints; flat per-request pricing across all domains
- 10 hosted remote MCP servers (one per domain) — the most extensive MCP coverage in the market
- Roxy Ephemeris verified against NASA JPL Horizons DE441; 828+ public benchmark tests on GitHub
- TypeScript and Python SDKs with bundled AGENTS.md (AI coding agent playbook)
- 7 open-source MIT starter apps (5 mobile + chatbot + more)
- Western: 4 house systems (Placidus, Koch, Whole Sign, Equal), synastry, composite, solar/lunar return, transits
- Vedic: birth chart, Lahiri ayanamsa, KP cusps and significators, nakshatra, panchang, dasha
- Sub-50ms median response on non-AI endpoints, 8 languages, free WordPress plugin
Honest assessment:
RoxyAPI is the most polished developer experience in this list and has the most extensive MCP integration of any provider. If you're building a multi-domain spiritual/lifestyle app (astrology + tarot + numerology + dreams), paying one $39+ subscription instead of stitching together separate vendors is a real win.
Where it falls short: at $39/mo for 25K requests, it's expensive for high-volume Vedic-only use cases compared to VedAstro or Prokerala's promo tier. No PDF report generation, no built-in AI chatbot layer (though MCP enables it), and it's a young company with a non-public engineering team.
7. Kundli.Click
Website: kundli.click
Free Tier: 1,000 requests/month
Pricing: ~₹1,499 to ₹2,999/month (always verify on their site — values move)
What they offer:
- Kundli generation, Vedic predictions, matchmaking, panchang data
- India-focused service with INR-only billing
Honest assessment:
Decent free tier, fine for Indian developers comfortable with INR billing and basic Vedic features. No MCP support, no Western or Tarot, smaller endpoint catalog, less documentation depth than Prokerala or AstrologyAPI.com. We could not independently re-verify their current pricing in our May 2026 research pass — check their site directly.
A Note on Calculation Accuracy
Every provider in this list ultimately relies on the Swiss Ephemeris as its planetary calculation engine. Vedika brands theirs "Vedika Ephemeris," RoxyAPI calls theirs "Roxy Ephemeris" — both are built on Swiss Ephemeris underneath. This means raw planetary positions are effectively identical across all seven providers.
The real differences are:
- Ayanamsa flexibility: VedAstro supports 47 ayanamsa systems (broadest); most others default to Lahiri only.
- Interpretation quality: manually authored prediction text vs. AI-generated vs. template-based varies a lot.
- Public benchmarks: RoxyAPI publishes 828+ tests against NASA JPL DE441; VedAstro is fully open-source so calculations are auditable line-by-line.
If accuracy is your top concern, the open-source providers (VedAstro) and the publicly-benchmarked ones (RoxyAPI) offer the strongest verification trail.
MCP Support — The 2026 Landscape
Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini call your API directly with grounded, real-time data — no copy-paste between tools. A year ago, MCP support was a unique differentiator. In May 2026, it's becoming the new baseline. Here's the honest landscape:
| Provider | MCP Type | Setup Effort |
|---|---|---|
| VedAstro | Hosted remote (mcp.vedastro.org) | Lowest — one URL |
| RoxyAPI | 10 hosted remote MCP servers | Low — per-domain URLs |
| AstrologyAPI.com | Hosted (in sandbox) | Low |
| Vedika | Hosted | Low |
| VedicAstroAPI | Self-hosted (free, GitHub) | Medium — requires local install |
| Prokerala | None confirmed | — |
| Kundli.Click | None confirmed | — |
VedAstro can honestly claim "first hosted Vedic astrology MCP server" and "easiest MCP setup at the lowest cost." We can no longer claim "only" — the market has caught up, which is good for everyone.
Which API Should You Choose?
There is no universal "best" API. Each provider is honestly the best choice for a specific use case:
Cheapest pure Vedic, open source, free hosted MCP
VedAstro — $1/month is unbeatable, source code is public, MCP setup is one URL. Try it in the API Builder.
Multi-language Vedic + Western + Tarot in one bill
VedicAstroAPI — 21 languages, combo plans starting at ~$48/month, cheap PDF add-ons.
Most established, deepest community, PDF-heavy products
Prokerala — 20-year track record, ~$12/month entry tier on current promo, mature PDF customization.
Largest endpoint catalog, all systems in one vendor
AstrologyAPI.com — 300+ endpoints, deep Vedic + Western, Tarot, Numerology, AI chat, hosted MCP.
Natural-language AI queries, KP system, modern stack
Vedika — from $12/month, built-in NLP layer with anti-hallucination, KP support, Vastu API.
Multi-domain spiritual/lifestyle app (10 domains, best MCP)
RoxyAPI — one $39+ subscription covers astrology + tarot + numerology + I-Ching + dreams + more, with 10 hosted MCP servers and flat per-request pricing.
When You Should NOT Pick VedAstro
Honesty matters more than a marketing pitch. Here are the cases where another provider is genuinely the better fit:
- You need PDF report generation. Use AstrologyAPI.com, Prokerala, or VedicAstroAPI — we don't ship this.
- You need multilingual API output. VedicAstroAPI (21 languages) or Vedika (30 languages) beat us — we're English-only.
- You need built-in AI natural-language Q&A. Vedika's NLP layer with anti-hallucination is genuinely ahead. Our MCP enables AI integration but doesn't ship a native chat endpoint.
- You need Tarot, I-Ching, dreams, or biorhythm alongside astrology. RoxyAPI or AstrologyAPI.com cover these; we don't.
- You need a formal SLA, dedicated account manager, or SOC 2 docs. RoxyAPI Enterprise or AstrologyAPI.com are appropriate. We're a small non-profit team without enterprise contracts.
- You need an official JavaScript/TypeScript SDK. Vedika, RoxyAPI, and others provide one; ours is Python + PHP + Swift only.
- You need deep Western astrology features (multiple house systems, composite charts, solar/lunar returns). RoxyAPI and AstrologyAPI.com lead here.
Summary
All seven providers reviewed offer accurate Vedic astrology calculations because they all rely on the same underlying Swiss Ephemeris engine. The real differences are pricing structure, feature breadth, multilingual support, MCP availability, and documentation maturity.
If price-per-call is your single biggest constraint and you only need Vedic features, VedAstro at $1/month is unbeatable, and being open-source means you can audit, contribute, or self-host. If you need a fuller feature set — PDF reports, multilingual output, Tarot, AI chat, formal SLA — one of the paid competitors is genuinely the better choice, and we'd rather you pick the right tool than the cheapest one.
The honest truth in 2026 is that the Vedic astrology API market is healthier than ever. MCP support has spread across providers, prices are dropping (Prokerala's promo, RoxyAPI's flat pricing), and features are converging. Pick the one that fits your specific use case, not the one with the loudest marketing.
